Last weekend Louth archers from CúChulainn Archers took part in a Double Flint and a 300 Round on Saturday, with a Double 300 Round on Sunday, a true test of any archer's ability and stamina.
The Flint Round is a great test of an archer's ability to change their point of aim as they start with four arrows each at 25 yards, 20 feet, back to 30 yards, then 15 yards, 20 yards and 10 yards.

Then finish with one arrow at each of the following distances - 30 yards, 25 yards, 20 yards and 15 yards.
Changing distances every four arrows is difficult, but adding in the fact that some distances are in yards while others are in feet just adds to the challenge.
The 300 Round consists of 12 ends of five arrows shot at 20 yards and is a reasonably straightforward Round. Drunquin Archery Club in Co. Tyrone was the host club, and they put on a great competition as usual.
There for CúChulainn Archers were Adria and Gerard Quinn on both Saturday and Sunday, and they were joined on Sunday by Siobhán Keeble and Oisín Donnelly.
All won in their categories and, more importantly, got scores for the International Field Archery Association European Indoor Archery Championships (EIAC), which will be held in the SETU Arena in Waterford in March, at which the club hopes to achieve multiple podium finishes.
Many thanks to Drumquin for hosting this competition. CúChulainn Archers holds beginner courses throughout the year. Enquiries to Cuchulainnarchers@hotmail.com.
