County Louth Golf Club’s Stuart Grehan was confirmed as the 2025 Men’s Amateur of the Year at the Irish Golf Writers’ Association Awards ceremony in Anantara The Marker, Dublin on Tuesday.
Grehan’s year was defined by major domestic success, winning both the Flogas Irish Men’s Amateur Open Championship and the AIG Irish Men’s Close Championship.

His playoff victory at Seapoint was followed by a two-shot triumph at Westport that made him just the third player of the modern era to complete the coveted Open–Close double.
The 32-year-old was a key member of the Great Britain and Ireland side that captured the St Andrews Trophy in Madrid and later earned selection for the Walker Cup at Cypress Point.
Rory McIlroy’s Masters-winning season dominated the professional awards, and Anna Dawson was recognised as 2025 Women’s Amateur of the Year.
