Dundalk North East Runners Club athlete Geraldine Finegan with her awards
Irish athletics continues to shine on the world stage, and one of its brightest stars is proving that age is no barrier to success.
Geraldine Finegan, a renowned combined event athlete from Dundalk North East Runners Club, has been awarded the national title for Best Jumper Combined Event athlete after breaking the world record earlier this year.

The record-breaking performance took place in April at the prestigious international combined events competition in Reusel, Netherlands, where Geraldine etched her name in history books with an outstanding display of skill, power, and consistency across the jumping disciplines.
On Saturday last, at a special ceremony in Rathfarnham, Dublin, she was officially honoured with a beautifully engraved glass trophy and a world champion certificate, joining a proud group of Irish athletes recognised for achieving world records.
“It was a wonderful day, not just for me but for everyone there,” Geraldine said. “To see so many Irish athletes reaching the highest standards and setting world records was inspiring.”
At almost 60 years of age, Geraldine continues to set the pace in masters athletics, combining dedication, discipline, and a passion for health and performance.
A qualified nutritionist and physiotherapist, she attributes her longevity in sport to careful training, recovery, and supplement support.
“I feel very grateful to be healthy and injury-free,” she explained. “For people over 40 who are exercising regularly, I strongly recommend the right supplements to support joint comfort and strength. With the right approach, it’s amazing what you can achieve.”
For those interested in learning more, Geraldine is happy to share her personal supplement list and advice. She can be contacted directly via Facebook, TikTok, or Instagram.
This latest accolade not only cements her place as a world-class athlete but also serves as a shining example of what is possible with passion, preparation, and perseverance.
