Louth archers battle elements to win medals in Athy

SMBBR Peter Gilmore of CúChulainn Field Archery Club took aims for gold

Members of CúChulainn Field Archery Club, Co. Louth took to the roads again to compete in the IFAA Double Flint Round, which took place over two days at the weekend.

Hosted by Strongbow Archers at Harbour House Club in Athy, Co. Kildare, the weather posed quite a challenge. Representing CúChulainn were Fiachra Judge, Christy Banks, Claudia Heinze Banks, Hugh Murphy and Peter Gilmore.

While the sun shone and showers rained down throughout the two days, the wind was not very cooperative either, with gusts being described by the archers as "vicious/turbulent/guaranteed to blow harder every time a bow was raised"... so we have to assume that it was rather windy.

Be that as it may, all five archers say that it was a great weekend and were happy to attain podium finishes with:
Compound archer Fiachra Judge took gold and beat fellow CúChulainn member Hugh Murphy into second place and a silver medal.

SMBBR Peter Gilmore took gold, and Christy Banks took the silver in the same category. AFBBR Claudia Heinze Banks took silver in her category. Congratulations to all who competed.
