Stabannon Parnells 1-22 Kilkerley Emmets 3-12

Stabannon Parnells came from behind to claim victory over Kilkerley Emmets at home on Saturday night.

The result sees the Mid Louth side make it three wins on the bounce as they move into second place in the John O'Neill Sand and Gravel Louth Division Two League table.

Once again, it was Harry Butterly who provided the bulk of the scores as he finished with a personal tally of 13 points.

Despite his early points, it was Kilkerley who led after the first quarter thanks to a Dan McKeown goal. Although Stabannon hit back, the Emmets scored a second goal through Cathal Bellew to lead by 2-6 to 0-10 at the break.

On a night when Dylan Shevlin hit six points and Bobby Butterly, Ryan Shevlin, and Richard Rogers found the target, Stabannon hit back to level at the second half water break, 2-8 to 0-17.

In an entertaining final quarter, Kilkerley landed points through Michael Begley, Kieran Murtagh and Daragh Conlon, but it was a goal from Colm Giggins that made the difference as the hosts held out for victory.

Clan na Gael 0-15 Glen Emmets 1-11

Clan na Gael came out on top in this bottom of the table clash when they had two points to spare at home to Glen Emmets on Saturday evening.

The Dundalk men picked up just their second win of the table but it was enough to move them on to six points as the Emmets remain without a point after once again coming out on the wrong end of a tight game.

Liam O’Hanlon and Robbie Curran led the way in terms of scoring for the hosts, and when things got tight down the home straight, they had points off the bench from Mark McGeown and Shane Carroll.

The Tullyallen side continues to be competitive but without getting over the line, and on the night they had the only goal from a Paddy McHugh penalty, while Kealan O’Neill, Callum Wogan and Jack Mullen were among the points.

Clan na Gael: Sean Smyth; Conor Smith, Craig Callan, Brian McDonnell; Paul Crewe, Conor Noonan 0-1, Kevin Carroll; Gerard Curran, Shay Coleman; Jack Callan, Robbie Curran 0-3, Sean O'Hanlon; Liam O'Hanlon 0-7, Gavin Gaffey, Mark Newell 0-2.

St Brides 2-11 Dundalk Young Irelands 1-14

Ruairi Kelly salvaged a point for Young Irelands as his late score saw the Dundalk men claim a draw against St Brides in Knockbridge.

This Division 2 clash was very much a game of two halves and it was St. Brides who got off to the perfect start with a goal from right half-back Daniel McArdle and a second following a great move forward by centre half-back Bernard Laverty inside four minutes.

Dundalk Young Irelands stayed in the game with points from James Prendergast and Liam McStravick, and it was the latter who found the net on 13 minutes.

However, the Brides closed out the first half with scores from Nathan Kirk, Ross Murnaghan, Kevin Hearty, along a two-pointer from Sean Marry. Goalkeeper Aaron Devin weighed in with a free to put his side 2-8 to 1-6 ahead at the break.

The second half got off to a slow start with both teams exchanging points. However, it was not until the final quarter that the Irelands launched their comeback.

James Prendergast pointed halfway through the second half, while Jordan O’Donoghue and Caolan McCabe's points gave the Young Irelands momentum and a belief that they could get something out of the game.

The Brides managed just three scores after the restart from Marry, Kevin Hearty and Peter Carragher but it looked as if that might be enough for victory until the 62nd when Kelly popped up with the equaliser.

St Brides: Aaron Devin 0-1; Evan Wynne, Ronan Bailey, Padraig Mackin; Daniel McArdle 1-0, Bernard Laverty 1-0, Ross Murnaghan 0-1; Peter Carragher 0-1, James Costello; Donal McArdle 0-1, Nathan Kirk 0-2, Morgan Tobin; Oisin McBride, Sean Marry 0-3, Kevin Hearty 0-2.

Subs: Derek Maguire for C O Naraigh, Jack McArdle 0-1 for S Murphy, Leon Duffy 0-1 for Dean Maguire, Brendan Prendergast for M Lee, Alan Hanks for C McCabe.

Roche Emmets 2-15 Mattock Rangers 1-14

Roche Emmets leapfrogged opponents Mattock Rangers to go third outright in the Division 2 table with victory at home in Rathduff on Saturday night. Having taken each other down in the league last winter, Roche were in a determined mood to reverse the loss.

Rangers started much brighter on the sunny night. Cathal Fleming and Sean Flynn are linking up well to give Mattock an early double-score lead.

Glen Stewart did halt Rangers briefly, but Terry Donegan fired home in the 21st minute to give Gus Flynn’s side a deserved three-point lead at the interval, 1-8 to 0-8. With Barry O’Hare well marshalled, Emmets found another avenue.

Mark Byrne found the net upon the restart and Louth under 20 DD Reilly hit the target but a Mattock two pointer had the visitors well in contention. However Reilly would find the net and Roche would finished the stronger.

Roche Emmets: Evin Quigley; Dermot Carthy, Sean Connolly, Marc Murphy; James McDonnell, David Quigley, Gerard Browne; Liam Dawe 0-3, Glen Stewart 0-2; Sean Dawe 0-2, Cathal Corcoran, Fionn Connolly; DD Reilly 1-0, Mark Byrne 1-3, Barry O’Hare 0-2.

Subs: Daire Reilly, Shane Byrne 0-3.

Mattock Rangers: Craig Englishby; Alan Caraher, Cillian Hickey, Tom Grimes; Eoin McCloskey, Adrian Reid, Callum Wogan 0-1; Ben McKenna 0-3, Robert Holmes; Terry Donegan 1-1, Daire Englishby, Jack Thompson 0-1; Sean Flynn 0-5, Cathal Fleming 0-2, James Caraher.

Subs: Liam Flynn 0-1, Shane Hickey.

St. Kevin's 0-13 Dundalk Gaels 1-10

St. Kevin's secured a hard-earned point against unbeaten Dundalk Gaels on Saturday evening at Philipstown. Lee Crosbie was the hero for the hosts, converting his two-pointer free in the dying seconds to secure a share of the spoils.

After the Gaels opened the scoring, Jacob Finlay put the hosts on the board in the 5th minute. Crosbie then converted a two-pointer free to give the Kevins a 0-3 to 0-1 lead, though the Gaels soon levelled matters.

The home side built momentum through Cameron Maher and Lee Crosbie to establish a three-point advantage.

The Gaels showed grit to stay in touch however when Jack Mullen found the net in the 27th minute, but Darren McMullan's late point ensured Martin King’s side led 0-9 to 1-5 at halftime.

The second half saw county player Dylan McKeown come in and straight away receive a black card. With that temporary numerical advantage, St. Kevin’s Brian Callaghan extended their lead.

With the full complement on the field, Gaels summoned Sean McCann off the bench and looked set for victory until Crosbie thwarted them.

St. Kevin’s: Joshua Finlay; Caoimhin Prout, Niall Gregory, Sean Powderly; Darren McMullan 0-1, Cameron Maher 0-2, Donnacha Boylan;  Brian Callaghan 0-1, Ciaran King; Justin Callaghan, Seanie Crosbie, Jacob Finlay 0-1; Josh McArdle Lynch, Lee Crosbie 0-8, James Kieran.

Subs: James McArdle, Caolan McMullan, Cian Callan, D. Maher, Ciaran Logue.

Dundalk Gaels: Aaron Culligan; James Lynch, James O’Connell, Jack Mullen 1-0; Alan Jumbo 0-1, Oisin Murray, Luke Murray; James Stewart 0-3, Jordan Keating; Sean Murray, Gary Shevlin, David McComish; Cain Bromley, Tom O’Connell 0-4, Eanna McArdle 0-1.

Subs: Sean Lambert, Sean McCann 0-1, Dylan McKeown, Tom Murphy.

O’Raghallaigh’s 1-12 Oliver Plunketts 1-13

Bragging rights, head-to-head, relegation battle, town banter, and winless streaks were all on the line, and I sided with Oliver Plunketts in this basement Drogheda derby at the Integral Gaelic Grounds.

The victory, as stated, came down to the wire with Dean Carolan stepping up to decide the fate of both sides. The veteran stood up to fire the winner and lift the visitors over the Raghs but join them on four points apiece.

The tie looked to be going the way of Keith Horgan’s side when Kyle McElroy’s early exploits caught the eye. The losers were seven up in the opening half.

Kevin Magee and hero Carolan traded goals, but the Maroon side showed enough resolve to come back and get over the line.

O’Raghallaigh’s: Joe Finnegan; Ollie Clutterbuck Emmet King, Tim Curran; James Morgan, Stephen Murphy, Daniel Reilly 0-3; Alan Doyle, Ruairi Moore; Darragh Naughton, Barry Finnegan, Kevin Magee 1-0; Ben Rogan 0-1, John Horan, Kyle McElroy 0-7.

Subs: Lucas Carton, Evan Smith, Matthew Burke.

Oliver Plunketts: Luke Haggans; Baz Reynolds, David McEnteggart, Shane Lambe; Adam Lambe 0-2, Dean Carolan 1-1, Jamie Byrne; Robbie Brodigan, Shaun Smith 0-1; Niall Murtagh, Adam Smith 0-1, Conor Haggans 0-1; Kristian Nolan 0-4, Cian Brady, Sean Callaghan.

Subs: Ben Boyce, Kenny Hurley.
