Louth archers compete at Kings of Archery JVD Open

The beautiful grounds of Drewstown House in Co. Meath were the setting for the White Wolf Archers UAF 3D IFAF Round last Sunday.

Competing for CúChulainn Archers were: Neil Keeble, who won the gold medal in Senior Barebow men; Peter Gilmore, gold medal in Masters Barebow men; Hugh Murphy, gold medal Compound Master men; and Mark Young, gold medal, Bowhunter Recurve.

Archers from Louth were competing again on Saturday in the Archery NI and Open Senior Championships, hosted by Lisburn Archery Club in the Jim Baker Stadium in Templepatrick.

In a hotly contested Senior Barebow category, Ryan Dougan and Neil Keeble faced off in the Semi-Finals, with Ryan going into the final, where he took the silver.

Neil went into the bronze medal match where he finished in fourth place. Mark Young and Peter Gilmore in the Barebow Master category fought their way through to the quarter-finals where they were unfortunately knocked out.

Darrel Wilson took Bronze in Senior Men Compound, JoAnn Bell took gold in Masters Women Compound, and Paul McClelland took bronze in Masters Men Compound.

In competition in Holland earlier, at the JVD Open 2024, the Kings of Archery Series in Eindhoven were 1193 Archers from all over the world!

Included were 42 Irish archers and two of these were from CúChulainn Archers. This prestigious and very popular competition took place over two days.

Competing for CúChulainn were Robert Hall, who finished in 20th place and Alan Convery who finished in 43rd place overall in Senior Men Compound - congratulations on a very good result in the biggest category there!
