The Chief Executive’s management report shows the Council took in €126 million in the same period

Louth County Council’s total expenditure for 2022 has come in at just under €131 million according to the Chief Executive’s monthly management report.

Meanwhile the Council took in just under €126 million in the same period.

The Council had projected that they would spend just over €140 million in 2022 while taking in the same amount but ended up spending 93% of their projected expenditure while taking in just 90% of what they had forecasted.

Big ticket expenditure items included €43 million on housing; €23 million on Road Transportation and Safety; €18 million on Development Management and just over €18.5 million on Environmental Services.

There was a 4% overspend on Development Management of €775k and a 1% overspend of €123k on Recreation and Amenity.

On the income side, the Council brought in just under €45 million on housing which was 9% less than projected; €34 million from Rates which was 2% less than projected; €12 million from Road Transportation and Safety which was just 73% of what they expected to take in and just short of €10 million from the Local Property Tax General Purpose Grant.

Louth County Council did however receive 43% more than they had budgeted from Recreation and Amenity; or €450k.

The Council also recorded a closing Debtors balance for the year of just over €32 million.

There was a closing balance for the year of just under €12 million for Development Levies; over €8.5 million in rates and just under €5 million from Government Debtors.

The Debtors figures come with the proviso that as the Council were closed over the Christmas period the above accounts still have to be updated for funds received over this period.
