Dundalk courthouse
A 32-year-old man accused of possessing computer-generated child sexual abuse images, last week failed to get his bail terms varied at Dundalk district court so he can join his wife who has moved back to their home country.
The defendant, who can’t be named due to reporting restrictions, is charged with possession of material which was allegedly recovered from a Samsung mobile phone and from a Lenova laptop at his home in Drogheda on December 5th last.
Three weeks earlier following a contested bail hearing, Judge Eirinn McKieran had remanded him on his own bond of €200, subject to strict bail conditions, to April 6th for the directions of the DPP.
Last Wednesday during an application to amend the bail conditions, the Defence solicitor asked if an additional sum to the €5,000 already lodged would allay any fears the investigating Garda might have.
Judge McKiernan said while she was refusing the application, she would consider a further bid to vary the bail, if another €2,500 was produced.
