Sinead McNally performed three tracks off her recently released EP ‘10,000’ in the Olympic Park on August 3rd, in front of thousands of Olympian guests
Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat Sinead said “The experience was surreal. It was my first UK gig and the audience were great. I got a fantastic response from them and a huge round of applause.”
“I had to stay close to the stage during the day I was performing but I tried to spend as much time as I could walking around and taking everything in.”
“Later in the day I watched the games on a huge screen beside the river and had a few drinks. The atmosphere was incredible, you would see athletes roaming around all the time but I didn’t spot anyone well known!”
“It was so easy to get around as well and the volunteers were just amazing. The minute you got off the underground or a bus there was someone there to ask you were you ok and if you knew where you were going. There was literally thousands of people involved in making sure that everyone got around safely and easily. There was police keeping an eye on everything as well so you felt very safe.”
Sinead is currently on a two week tour promoting her new EP ‘10,000’ but she hopes to return to the UK in October.
“I have made a few contacts and met a lot of great people while I was over there so I’m very thankful I had the opportunity to perform in London at the Olympics and it has opened up more opportunities for me.”
“I will hopefully be finishing up here in September and then heading to the UK to try to built up the same support I have received here in Ireland, over there.”
Sinead was suppose to be playing an EP release gig in the Spirit Store last Friday but unfortunately, due to building work and renovations going on, the gig room was closed so instead Sinead performed an acoustic set in the downstairs bar for free.
