The work of Dundalk Tidy Towns group was highly praised by members of the the town council at their monthly meeting.
Once again the town won a gold medal in the national finals.
Cllr Marian Butler congratulated Willie Duffy chairman Dundalk Tidy Towns, the Tidy Towns committee, and all the volunteers and the council’s own staff on the great work.
Cllr Sean Bellew said he had attended the national finals at the Helix centre and the general standard had been amazing.
Dundalk did exceptionally well and he particularly praised the murals at Quay Street which capture the history and past history and atmosphere of that area.
Cllr Jim Ryan also congratulated all involved, but Cllr Martin Bellew said litter control was still a major problem for the town and all its citizens.
Town engineer Catherine Duff said the council will be tackling litter control in an effort to improve the town’s marks.
Council chairman said the result for Dundalk shows the dedication of the Tidy Towns committee.
