Legendary singer/song writer Christy Moore is coming to the Dundalk and will give a rare public performance in The Fairways Hotel on Friday, May 17 along with special guest Declan Sinnott.
Fans are urged to buy them tickets quickly as the singer has recently cut back on the number of concerts he plays each year. and tickets are bound to sell out fast.
Christy is an Irish folk singer, songwriter, and guitarist and is well known as one of the founding members of Planxty and Moving Hearts.
His solo style includes driving rhythms on guitar and bodhrán as well as slower ballads.
In 2007, he was named as Ireland’s greatest living musician in RTÉ’s People of the Year Awards.
After his gig in the Fairways Hotel Christy will spend the rest of May performing in England and Wales before returning to Ireland in June.
The folk singer has a busy schedule planned for 2013 and will play gigs around the country in Wexford, Cork, Leitrim and Limerick before heading back to England in October.
There he will be performing in venues in Liverpool, Newcastle, Conventry and Leeds. He will also perform two gigs in Northern Ireland in Derry.
He will play London’s Royal Festival Hall next April.
In recent weeks Christy visited the Keltoi Centre in The Phoenix Park where he sang with people in recovery from addiction. “It was an emotional but fun filled gathering,” said Christy of the event, “some of them came up and sang beautiful songs.”
The musician also travelled to Derry recently to see The Dalai Lama who was there to mark the work of Children in Crossfire.

Doors will open at 7pm and Christy will be live on stage at 8pm. There will be no interval and no support act.
