Frances Black is back on the music scene and releasing her first studio album in ten years.
And any die hard fans in the Dundalk area are in for a treat as she is bringing her nationwide tour to the Spirit Store on Sunday, March 10.
Frances spoke to the Dundalk Democrat last week about her decision to return to making music and her visit to Dundalk.
“It was strange, nerve-wrecking and exciting going back into the studio”, Frances told the paper, “but it was also a very quick decision and I jumped at the chance as soon as I got it.”
“This album is something I have wanted to do for a long time. It is an album of all my favourite songs that I have sung through the years, I have loved and lived these songs, they all tell stories of my life.”
Although Frances has not released a studio album in ten years she has continued to play gigs around the country.
“I have been gigging around Ireland but I had slowed down over the past three years and become very involved in my charity, The Rise Foundation.
“I have performances coming up in Dublin, Limerick and Clonmel and then in August and September I will be gigging in Northern Ireland and after that Holland.”
Frances has played in Dundalk before but never in the Spirit Store and she is looking forward to seeing the venue.
“I have heard great things about the Spirit Store and it’s new gig room and I’m excited to see it.
“I always get a bit anxious before a gig as I’m always afraid nobody will turn up but I’m looking forward to it nonetheless!”
Frances has nothing to worry about as the crowds will surely flock to see her perform songs from her wonderful new album.
Tickets to see Frances perform cost w27.50 and can be bought at the Spirit Store bar or online at www.spiritstore.ie
