Local band Take the Money and Run will be playing this year’s Other Voices Music Trail in Derry this Friday, February 8.
The local band are the only North Eastern band to be playing this prestigious event which also features acts such Damien Dempsey, Savages, Soak, Bronagh Gallagher, Jesca Hoop, Marina and the Diamonds, Neil Hannon, Beth Orton, Daughter, James Yorkston and Two Door Cinema Club.
Band member Joey Edwards told the Democrat the band were very excited to be part of the event.
“It’s really a great privilege for us to play a small part in something as special as Other Voices who have sported some amazing Irish and international artists and personal heroes of ours, and we are super excited about it.”
The music performances will be streamed live and also broadcast on both RTE and BBC Television so this a wonderful opportunity for the band to showcase their music.
Take the Money and Run are a female fronted four piece from Dundalk who combine catchy hooks, growling guitars and a tight rhythm section together to form guitar driven pop songs.
Members of the band are Sarah Edwards on vocals/guitar, Joe Furlong on bass/cornet and Joey Edwards on guitar.
2010 saw the release of their debut EP which received positive reviews from Hotpress and State.ie.
After losing one of the original members in 2011, Take The Money and Run embarked on writing a new and fresh group of songs, now ready for public consumption.
The band released two of their new tracks this September from the studio recordings done with Adrian Bourke in Charthouse Studio, Dublin.
2013 is set to be very exciting for Take The Money and Run, a band to watch out for.
