Names of family?

My son Sean, grandfather Kevin Murphy, aunts Eveleen Searle, Colette Murphy, Etta Flynn and Ann Murphy. Uncles Vincent Flynn, Tony Myrphy and Pat Searle. Sisters Sandra Woods and Catherine Flynn, the Flynn’s and the Murphy cousins and my nieces and nephews and my friends far and wide.

When did you leave and why?

I left home for New Jersey back in early 1986 and returned Christmas 1989 and started working in the shoe repair and locksmith trade. As the time passed I couldn’t get the thoughts of NJ out of my mind. In 1995 I left it all behind and returned to the little island of WildWood, New Jersey. I now call it home.

What’s your occupation?

I work at an 80 boat marina. I take care of the rental fleet as well as taking care of the daily upkeep of the yard, the docks and deal with any questions from the boat owners.

Is the social life much different from home?

The social life is much different. The weather dictates a lot. It could be BBQs on a warm night, to a bowling game in the fall. I never did any of that back home.

How do you like to relax?

I like to take a boat ride and fish. If I am not doing that it’s a long jet ski ride around the cape and in the winter there is not really that much to do except a trip to Atlantic City for a little gamble or a trip to Philadelphia - but most nights it is feet up in front of the TV over looking the water.

Have you been home since leaving?

I was back home in 1999 when my father passed away. It was the saddest day of my life and I was only gone for four years at that point. I seen a lot of changes, like everybody had cell phones, new housing estates and new roads. I am sure I would be lost now 15 years later.

Do you plan to return home?

I don’t plan on moving back. I’ve been here almost 20 years now but I live one day at a time. Who knows what door step I may show up on with all my bags.

Name one thing from home that you wish you could buy in your local store?

Real Irish food. It’s just not the same here.

Have you a message for your friends and family?

I miss you all and wish I was there sometimes but maybe one of these days I will come and visit. God bless.
