THE second annual transition year triathlon took place at St Mary’s Drumcar recently.
This was a magnificent sporting occasion and school teams from all over the county took part.
But it was the De la Salle College in Dundalk that really shone.
The school athletes were particularly successful in the team and individual events.
Eight students from the college’s transition year classes took part in all the events.
Aidan Kieran, Ciaran O’Neill and Stephen Carron made it home in first place in the boys team event while Conall Cooney took second place in the individual competition.
Also competing were Shane McQuillan, Aaron Kelly, Ciaran Hearty and Jordan Mackin who were also in top form on the day.
The triathlon involved three different activities, swimming, cycling and running.
And it seems that the hours of training in the pool and on the roads really paid off for the boys in blue.
Congratulations to all the boys who competed and to Ms McAdam for mentoring them.
A great day was had by all and next year’s TY students have a lot to live up to.
