Dundalk representative Cllr Seán Kelly, has shared an update from Louth County Council, on works carried out by Uisce Éireann (formerly Irish Water) at Maxwell Row/St Nicholas Avenue in Dundalk, saying that the local authority has written to Uisce Éireann to tell the water utility that the works need to be completed as "a matter of absolute urgency".

Cllr Kelly shared an update on social media on Thursday evening saying that, "this area has been left like this for a number of weeks now. Uisce Eireann (Irish Water) are responsible for the repair works because they did the damage after a leak. I’ve been raising this non stop as it’s an accident waiting to happen."

The Fianna Fáil councillor went on to say that Louth County Council has "written to Uisce Eireann again today saying the works need to be completed as a matter of absolute urgency and stressing the safety concerns.

"Hopefully we will see movement from them in the next few days. I’ll keep the residents in the area updated."

Responding to comments on his social media post, Cllr Kelly said that he would keep people updated, adding that "it's a joke".
