Appeal to people who care about Louth to join in clean up event

Cooley Community Alert is planning its events for this year and is asking for more groups, businesses, schools, and sports groups, "and anyone who cares about Louth", to get involved in its clean up events in the community.

To celebrate national spring clean and world earth day in April with a theme of reducing plastic, Cooley Community Alert says it is kicking off its first large clean of the year on 11 April in Rockmarshall from 12pm to 2pm.

The group says it plans to start under the bridge opposite Fitzpatricks and work towards Lordship, and that the event is suitable for all ages.

Cooley Community Alert says that the area to be cleaned has been the most littered area in recent years, so all support is appreciated. It adds that bags, litter pickers and gloves are supplied.

The Community Alerts Quad and trailer will be used to being these back to a central point to limit any carrying by volunteers.
Chairperson of Cooley Peninsula Community Alert and Peninsula Marine Litter Project, Mr Michael Muckian, said that: "In 2026 we really encourage work groups, businesses, local residents, schools and anyone who cares about Louth and keeping it clean for future generations to join us.
"Everyone is welcome on the day and we ask any groups interested in joining to contact us in advance on 087 7068623 so we can plan refreshments etc for all."
