Louth County Council have said significant progress is being made at new age-friendly development at the Newtown Link Road in Drogheda.

All 46 homes under the Greenhills Grange Accelerated Delivery Programme (ADP) social housing scheme have now reached a major construction milestone, with all houses being made fully weathertight.

The construction contract for the scheme was signed with Cunningham Contracts Ltd in February 2025, and strong progress has been made throughout the year. The development remains on schedule for delivery in the first half of 2026.

Funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH), Greenhills Grange will provide 46 high-quality, age-friendly bungalows designed to meet the needs of older residents in Drogheda.

The scheme will enable older people to live independently, safely, and actively within their community. It features housing and public open spaces that are inclusive, accessible, and thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of an ageing population.

David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, said: “Greenhills Grange exemplifies our commitment to ensuring that every person, regardless of age, has access to housing that enhances their quality of life and supports ageing in place.

“In Louth, we are delivering homes that support older people to live well, safely, and actively in the heart of their communities. A key part of this is promoting right-sizing - offering older residents the opportunity to move into more suitable, accessible homes that better meet their changing needs, while freeing up larger family homes for younger generations. This approach ensures that our housing stock works for everyone.”

Greenhills Grange is one of six direct‑build projects currently under construction by Louth County Council, comprising 440 homes in total.
