Aiken Barracks in Dundalk
Louth Fine Gael TD, Paula Butterly, has said she welcomes the progress on development works at Aiken Barracks in Dundalk, which she said includes a new €5.6m dining facility among the developments.
Deputy Butterly said that the project is due for completion in 2026 and will replace existing catering infrastructure and will include a modern kitchen, dining area and storage for rations.
This project, she added, comes in addition to completed works on heating certification and EV charging points on site.
Deputy Butterly said “These investments are a welcome upgrade for our Defence Forces Staff. Continued improvement works like these are necessary as we pursue more ambitious Defence goals in the future.”
“I want to acknowledge the hard work Minister McEntee has done upon assuming her new role as Minister Defence on this issue, alongside her predecessor and Tánaiste Simon Harris. I will continue to advocate for further investment in our Defence Forces in the future to uphold our island’s security.”
