Lisavaird Food Group, a subsidiary of West Cork–based Lisavaird Co-Op, has said that it has entered into a conditional agreement to acquire Seafood Processors Ltd, trading as Morgans Fine Fish, based in Omeath in north Louth.
Morgans Fine Fish is a family-owned seafood processor established in 1860. It has grown over five generations and today employs over 80 people in a modern processing facility overlooking Carlingford Lough. From its state-of-the-art facility in Omeath, Morgans supplies fresh, frozen, pre-packed and value-added seafood to retailers, restaurants, hotels, healthcare providers and wholesalers across Ireland.
The company employs more than 80 people and is recognised for its strong emphasis on sustainability, traceability and continuous investment in modern processing technologies.
Lisavaird Food Group said that the proposed transaction marks a significant step its strategy to grow its presence in the Irish seafood sector, building on the success of its existing seafood businesses, Glenmar Ireland, Glenmar UK and Bluewave, which have been a leader in seafood production and distribution for over 40 years.
With the Groups strong presence in shellfish and premium seafood across Ireland, the UK and Italy, it says the addition of Morgans introduces a retail arm to Lisavaird’s seafood business with substantial processing capability in the North East.

Lisavaird Food Group is active across seafood, dairy, spreads, cooked meats and bakery and forms a key part of Lisavaird Groups €218 million turnover recorded in 2024.
Both businesses say they also acknowledge the continued support of BIM, Enterprise Ireland and Bord Bia over many years. Each has played a vital role in guiding the development of the Irish seafood sector and supporting processors in areas such as sustainability, innovation and skills development.
Completion of the acquisition is subject to regulatory review and approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in Ireland. Until such approval is granted, both companies will continue to operate independently and there will be no changes to day-to-day operations, customer service, or supplier arrangements.
Martin Dineen, CEO Lisavaird Co-Op said: “We believe this proposed acquisition will bring significant benefits to both businesses. Morgans is a company with an exceptional heritage, a strong reputation for quality and a commitment to sustainable seafood. This step further enhances our seafood offering and positions us well to serve customers right across Ireland and further afield.”
Joe Morgan at Morgans commented: “Joining Lisavaird Food Group represents a natural next step for Morgans. We share the same values of quality, sustainability and customer focus. With the support and scale of Lisavaird Food Group, we look forward to continuing to grow the business, investing in our people, our site in Omeath and our product offering for customers.”
Both companies remain fully committed to providing high-quality service to customers and maintaining strong relationships with employees, suppliers and industry partners throughout the review period.
Lisavaird Co-Op, the parent company of Lisavaird Food Group, said it is proud to support this latest planned investment in the Irish seafood sector as it celebrates its centenary in 2025.
The Co-Op and its food group businesses continue to focus on high-quality, responsibly sourced Irish food for both domestic and international markets and are active participants in Bord Bia’s Origin Green sustainability programme.
