Dundalk founded Bar One Racing Announces Rebrand to BAR 1 Betting

One of Ireland’s best-known independent bookmakers, the Dundalk founded Bar One Racing, has officially rebranded to BAR 1 Betting, marking the beginning of a bold new era for the company.

The rebrand coincides with the launch of a new website and next-generation mobile app, designed to deliver a faster, smoother, and more intuitive betting experience across all sports and racing markets.
Founded by Barney O’Hare, the company opened its first betting shop in Dundalk in the early 1990's. What began as a single local bookmaker has since evolved into one of Ireland’s leading independent betting operators, combining a nationwide retail presence employing over 350 people with a modern online and mobile platform.
BAR 1 Betting also operates a Telebetting service with their headquarters located in Dundalk.
As part of this exciting new chapter, BAR 1 Betting will continue to expand its commitment to Irish sport, strengthening its sponsorship portfolio to include headline partnerships such as the Dundalk Stadium 2025/26 All-Weather Season, the Navan Racing Festival, the Winter Festival at Fairyhouse, the BAR 1 Betting Sprint Cup at Dundalk Stadium, and the Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park.
BAR 1 Betting CEO Barney O’Hare said:  “This rebrand represents the next step in our journey. The new BAR 1 Betting name and digital platforms reflect who we are today, a modern, customer-focused bookmaker with deep roots in Irish sport. We’re proud to continue backing Irish racing and investing in its future.”
