Deirdre O’Kane at Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning for Hospice
Louth comedian and actor Deirdre O’Kane led Ireland’s biggest coffee morning on Thursday and reminded the nation there is still time to host one for your local hospice.
The Drogheda native was in Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services in Blackrock, Dublin, to brew up a storm for Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning for Hospice fundraiser.
Thousands of similar events took place across the country, with the shared goal of raising €2million to support Ireland’s hospices.
“By hosting or donating to a coffee morning, you will help patients to live life as fully as possible whilst making the most of precious time with their family and friends,” said Deirdre.

She also spoke of her deep personal admiration for hospices, her sister-in-law, Dr Fiona Bradley, received care before her death, aged 41.
People can still host coffee mornings to raise funds for their local hospice on a date that suits them by registering at hospicecoffeemorning.ie and if you can not host or attend one, you can donate on the same site.
