Vision Ireland 's Community Day takes place on Wednesday 9 April
Vision Ireland, Ireland’s national sight loss agency, is to hold day of events in Dundalk next Wednesday 9 April, as part of its Community Day to support for those living with sight loss in Louth.
On the day itself Vision Ireland is hosting a community coffee morning from 10.30am to 2pm in its offices at 14 Jocelyn Street. This is provide a space, it says, whereby locals and organisations can drop by, learn more about Vision Ireland and learn more about other resources and organisations in the area, have a sit down, chat and meet new people.
From 10.30am to 2.30pm, Vision Ireland will have its Vision Van on Earl Street and will be providing eye screening and education on good health, and is hoping to drum up a good crowd, along the lines of connection, community and ending loneliness.
From 9am to 5.30pm, Vision Ireland is urging people to call into its Vision Ireland Retail Store at 19 Clanbrassil Street, to see what is on sale, meet the volunteers and find out more about the Vision Ireland community.
Community Day is Vision's Ireland's first such event and there will also be representatives from Healthy Louth, Louth Local Development, Chime, ALONE and Social Farming Ireland, with Vision Ireland on the day.

Vision Ireland says loneliness disproportionately affects people with blindness or sight loss, often making it more difficult to form connections and find a sense of belonging, and that many individuals struggle to meet others, feeling unsure of how to connect with their neighbours or in need of a little encouragement to join in, hence the Community Day.
