All clothing will be offered completely free of charge.
The Parents Associations (PAs) of three schools in Haggardstown and Blackrock have come together and are offering free preloved communion outfits for girls and boys.
The initiative is being driven by the PAs of St. Fursey’s, St. Oliver’s and St.Frances’ and they havea already had lots of beautiful Communion outfits donated.
The event will be run this Saturday 8th February in The Fairways Hotel from 10am to 4pm.
All clothing will be offered completely free of charge. A voluntary donation can be made if desired and any monies raised will go towards the cost of running the event.
Should anyone outside of the schools wish to donate dresses, suits, shoes and accessories then please contact communion.wear.bh@gmail.com. The team will also accept donations on the day.
Any outfits that remain at the end will be donated to Saint Vincent de Paul – unless the donor has requested to have the outfit returned.
Team lead Emma Breslin said: “This event is in keeping with our schools’ green flag policy. With the current cost of living and the high cost of communions we really hope to help some local families. We are very keen for this to be an annual event that will grow over time”.
The local Parents Associations are very grateful to the PA of St. Declan’s NS in Ashbourne. St. Declan’s provided some very useful advice based on their own experience of running a similar event last year. They are also very grateful to The Fairways Hotel for offering the venue at a reduced rate.
Any vendors who would like to have a stand at the event should also contact communion.wear.bh@gmail.com.
