Actor Alvaro Lucchesi has starred in an array of blockbuster films, including Angela's Ashes, Evelyn, The Count of Monte Cristo, Ella Enchanted and Bloom, just to name a few.
Alvaro, a much-loved character around town, who also is one of the popular radio presenters on local radio station Dundalk FM's programme “On the street where you live” reveals his seven deadly sins.
LUST: Who or what do you find yourself lusting after today and why?
I must confess when saying lust out loud I giggle a little. I mean, at my age, the most I can muster is a slight frisson of excitement and then a lie down in a darkened room, with distant whale calling.
In fact, what I lust after is the antithesis of it. Peace and stability are my new objects of desire, of that rasable thing lust.
GREED: What should you be cutting down on (non-food or drink) and why?
Apart from the usual consumables, the thing I really need to control is my new found addiction to TikToks. What a cycloscopic journey into the superfluous, educational, bizarre, weird and brilliantly entertaining universe that is a need for self-expression and earning for celebrity. I cannot get more greedy for it.
GLUTTONY: What one thing could you happily eat or drink until you burst, and why?
I have being cooking most of my life; some of the time professionally; but of late for hosting and showing off, if I get it right!
The one dish I am most fond of is a plate of three rashers – good quality, pale, cured back bacon, two soft fried eggs with wheaten toast and strong tea. Simple, easy and affordable.
SLOTH: What should you be putting your back into now and why?
I suffer with spouts of energetic purpose and with crippling doubt. This can sometimes but not always lead to a sense of lethargy; which can be misconstrued as sloth.
I think we need to stand up to ourselves and be less of an obstacle. As a friend once put it, the ability to get out of one's own way is truly a gift.
WRATH: Who or what makes you angry and why?
The one thing that really gets my ire is the want to hate when there seems to be no reason for not loving.
To waste, energy, time, life in pursuing the elements that are used to divide and not the issues that bring us together. Not wanting to find the common good of humanity in all its myriad shapes, sizes and colours.
ENVY: Who are you jealous of and why?
It has taken me years to figure out that in the absence of admiration lies envy. I was once very annoyed at a casting decision that didn't go my way; but on seeing the final cut I had nothing but admiration for the actor who won the role.
Oh! And that people are having bad hair days!
PRIDE: What’s your proudest achievement and why?
This is where it is going to get very cheesy, very quickly. My greatest achievement is my daughter Kate. On the day she came home I stared at her for what seemed an eternity. This entity was part of me. I have never known love like it.
I could not be more proud of this mouthy, opinionated, sassy, funny, loyal individual. If only I could.
