In a heartfelt gesture, Louth man Sean Carroll, has donated over 14 inches of his hair to the Rapunzel Foundation, an Irish charity that supports individuals experiencing long-term hair loss by providing wigs made from donated hair. These wigs help restore confidence and self-esteem to those in need.

Sean, supported by Praxis Care’s Dunleer Day Service, set a personal goal in 2021 to grow his hair for charity. After nearly three years of dedication, the big day finally arrived. “I’m so excited to get my hair cut to donate to charity,” Sean said before his haircut. With the help of staff, he researched charities and chose the Rapunzel Foundation for the positive impact they have on people with hair loss.

In September, Sean visited a local Rapunzel Foundation salon, where his hair was measured and confirmed to be long enough for donation. On September 19th, after three years of growing his hair, Sean proudly sent it off to the foundation.

Reflecting on his experience, Sean shared, “I’m feeling confident, happy, and proud to donate my hair. I hope this makes a difference to someone in need.” “This is just the start of my donation journey,” Sean added, hinting at future plans for more charity work.

Lar Kennedy, manager of Praxis Care’s Dunleer Day Service expressed his admiration for Sean’s commitment, stating, “Sean’s selfless act of donating his hair is a powerful testament to his character and compassion. His willingness to make a personal sacrifice to support others embodies the very spirit of kindness we strive to promote. We couldn’t be prouder of him for taking this significant step to inspire and uplift those in need.”

Praxis Care adds that a special thank you goes to Cortex Hair Salon in Dundalk for generously providing Sean with a complimentary styling following his haircut.
