Buíon Setanta Scouts at Dun na Rí camp
The Buíon Setanta 5th Louth Scout Group marked its 40th anniversary with a weekend of adventure and celebration.
The group, named after the legendary Irish hero Setanta, held a two-night camp at Dún na Rí.
Activities inspired by Cuchulainn included a scavenger hunt, bridge building, cooking a cake on a fire, natural art using leaves, twigs, and stones, archery, making their own bows from hazel rods, and any team tasks based on the story of Setanta.
"It was a fantastic opportunity for our members to bond and learn from each other," said Sarah O' Hanlon, Venture Scout Leader.
"The camp was a highlight of our anniversary celebrations."
On Saturday evening, the group held a traditional "scouts own," a ceremony of reflection and gratitude followed by a campfire with songs, skits and plenty of chants.
The Buíon Setanta 5th Louth Scout Group was founded in 1984.
Over the past four decades, the group has grown and evolved, providing countless young people with opportunities for adventure, learning, and personal development.
To further commemorate their 40th anniversary, the group will host a celebratory event on October 11th at the Lisdoo. All current and past members and their families are invited to attend.
