Dundalk Dog Rescue have issued an urgent appeal online to find a home for Roxy, who has just days left in the rescue centre before she has to be returned to a kennel.
Roxy had been moved to emergency foster last week - but sadly the family was unable to care for Roxy, and she was returned to Dundalk Dog Rescue.
In a post online, the animal rescue group said they are urgently appealing to find an alternative foster placement for eight-year old Roxy, as returning her to kennels "is something we really wish to avoid".
Roxy had been surrendered to the Louth County Pound before being taken in by Dundalk Dog Rescue, and after being assessed by their vets found that the poor dog had suffered from a stroke.
She completed her course of medication and according to the rescue centre has been "doing really well" since.
"We want it to stay that way, a home environment is all the medicine she needs," a spokesperson for the rescue centre said.
Roxy is best suited for a pet-free home, with a secure garden and children over the age of 12. She travels well in the car, enjoys her daily walks, and her favourite place is in the water.
Those interested in adoption or helping with foster care can contact Dundalk Dog Rescue by email at rehoming@dundalkdogrescue.ie or by phone at 087 185 4360, as the centre is hoping that even a temporary home can be found for Roxy by Saturday.
