Gallery: Huge numbers turn up for the 2022 Annagassan Viking Run

Last weekend saw a massive turnout from across the country for the 2022 edition of the Annagassan 10K Road Race.

The Annagassan Viking 10km is dedicated to the memory of Noel Carroll, one of Ireland's finest athletes and one of the founders of the Dublin City Marathon. Noel was a native of Annagassan.

A marble seat has also been erected in the village in memory of Noel and was funded by this annual 10km event. Each entrant received a fabulous 10th anniversary medal for taking part.

After a testing course, in the end it was Yared Derese of Carrick Aces and Aine Cotter from the North East Runners that took the honours.

There among the competitors, volunteers and fans was the Democrat's resident photographer Arthur Kinahan, who was there sampling the atmosphere.

Below is a selection of some of the many pictures he took on the day. See anybody you recognize? Don't forget to tag them in the comments across out social media pages.
