Students in Coláiste Chú Chulainn Dundalk hold Cultural Week

Last week the student ambassadors in Coláiste Chú Chulainn organised the now annual ‘Cultural Week’.
The week included art competitions, announcements from students, quizzes, a cultural attire day, themed classes and a cultural fair where students could display and perused items from various countries and cultures.
Sixth Year student Queenie Huang is the Cultural Ambassador for 2022/23 and she said she was very pleased with how the week went.
“I worked with senior management, our head student Portia Quaye and Ms Uí Riodal, as the co-ordinator of the student ambassadors to plan this week”, Queenie said.
“I think it was pretty successful this year as we had lots of participation, particularly in the quizzes, stalls and cultural attire day.
“Our aims were to make sure everyone felt included and to have good participation and I think we got that.
“We also wanted to raise awareness of different culture and to make people comfortable talking about that and to introduce people to other cultures.
“We’ve gotten really good feedback from our fellow students who are already looking forward to and planning for next year so I think that says a lot.”
Portia Quaye, the Head Student, was pleased to see the fruits of their labour pay off.
“I think it was a fun week and it went really smoothly and there was great involvement from students”, Portia said.
Deputy Principal, Richard Melaniphy was full of praise for the event and the efforts of the students behind it saying: “I’m exceptionally proud of the way our student and staff body engaged.
“This is very much a student led event and it is brilliant to see them embracing this and taking ownership of a very popular, annual, celebration.
“All credit goes to them for showing us the way; how to learn about, understand and celebrate our diversity.
“A variety of rich, creative, and fun activities enabled us to further assimilate and deepen our understanding of our varied cultures.”
