As part of the ongoing 70th anniversary celebrations at the Fatima housing estate, a tree-planting took place recently.

An Irish oak tree was presented to the committee by Senator Erin McGreehan to be planted at the Bainseach on the original hurling pitch.

It was recounted at the ceremony that when the estate was being built, a tree was planted for each of the 160 houses.

To encourage the reforestation of native Irish trees, Sen McGreehan is donating 1,000 trees through her Mile Crainn na hEireann project. To avail of a tree, check out https://www.facebook.com/milecrainnnaheireann/.
