Further increase in number of homeless children in North East
The number of homeless children in the Louth, Monaghan, Cavan region increased again in March, according to the latest figures released by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage on Friday.
14 families accessed emergency accommodation in the North East region in during the week of 21 – 27 March 2022 , comprising 18 adults and 32 dependants, up from 13 families with 29 dependants in February. 84 adults accessed local authority managed emergency accommodation in Louth, Monaghan and Cavan, during the same week, down one from the month before.
Nationally, 7,014 adults and 2,811 dependants were reported as homeless in March, giving a total of 9,825 homeless people. This is an increase on the 9,492 reported in February and the 9,150 reported in January.
