Cllr Sheridan welcomes Ardee bypass permission decision

Local Councillor John Sheridan has welcome the approval of the Ardee Municipal District of the Part 8 planning process for the Ardee N52 bypass, the next step on the way to the road being constructed. On Thursday night, Ardee Municipal District councillors adopted the recommendation of the Chief Executive authorising the planning process to continue.

"I was delighted to propose the adoption of the Part 8 planning process on Thursday for the Ardee N52 Bypass", said Cllr Sheridan. "While this isn't a final outcome, it is a huge milestone on the way to the road being constructed. This is effectively the planning permission for the project. Hopefully construction can commence sooner rather than later."

He continues, "everyone that lives or works in Ardee knows the daily gridlock in the town. The many cross-country lorries and heavy good vehicles (HGVs) trundling through the town will be moved onto this bypass. I clarified to the meeting I had made a submission to the consultation that was 100% in favour of the bypass."

"The 4.5km road is badly needed and so much work has been done over the past three years to address local concerns about junctions and access, carry out consultations and assess the scheme from an environmental point of view. I firmly believe that this road will actually facilitate Ardee developing in a compact environmentally friendly manner."
