Dundalk Golf Notes: Brian Gaughran and Ruth Connolly record impressive victories

There was high scoring in the Tiernan’s Centra Singles Stableford played over the weekend of March 12 and 13 with Ollie Reilly, playing off 17, posting the best score of the competition.

Reilly shot an amazing 47pts to take Division 3 by just one point from Pearse Murphy (16) who also had a superb round in carding 46pts.

Reilly had birdies at the second and 14th and parred the first, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, ninth, 11th, 13th, and 18th as he went out in 25pts and came home in 22pts. Paul Morgan (21) was another player who was on fire as he carded 46pts to win Division Four by three points from Eoin Hamill (30).

John Mulligan (12) produced a brilliantly crafted round of 44pts to win Division 2 by one point from Kevin Barry while Brian Gaughran (10) had four birdies on his way to taking Division 1 with 43pts, just one better than teenager Eoin Purton (9).

Entries are now being accepted for the Club Foursomes and Mixed Foursomes competitions. Entries can be left in the box in the Bar and closing date for receipt of entries is Monday, 11 April.

DUNDALK LADIES

There was superb scoring in all divisions of the Ladies 18 Hole Stableford, played on Saturday March 12th and Tuesday March 15th.

Divisional winners were Ruth Connolly, Maeve Ahern and Joanne Lynch, who returned 45 points, 44 points and 46 points respectively. A very well done to all prize winners on their fantastic scores.

Saturday March 12 and Sunday, March 15 – Ladies 18 Hole Stableford – Division 1: Ruth Connolly (22) 45pts, Lesley O’Keeffe (20) 41pts, Elizabeth McGuinness (20) 38pts. 

Division 2: Maeve Ahern (26) 44pts, Bernie Prendergast (24) 40pts, Judy McDonough (23) 38pts. Division 3: Joanne Lynch (48) 46pts, Geraldine Hoare (30) 40pts, Teresa O’Mahony (30) 40pts. 9 Hole Competition: Bernadette Kearney 23pts, Majella Cassidy 19pts.
