Lucky Louth punter gets big reward as Cheltenham bet lands

Leitrim punter wins big

The anonymous Louth punter placed a bet on six horses to be placed on Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival

A punter in County Louth is celebrating a very strong start to the Cheltenham Festival after a savvy approach saw them pick up over €5,000…even though five of their six horses lost.

The anonymous winner picked out six horses on their BoyleSports account for a €1.50 each-way accumulator on Tuesday and the each-way part of their bet paid off handsomely when all six got into the places.

10/1 pick Brazil was the only one of the six who crossed the line first, but a significant return was secured with places for Kilcruit (6/1), Gabynako (25/1), Death Duty (12/1), Zanahiyr (28/1) and Mrs Milner (14/1).

The bet returned an initial total of €2,827, but because some of the horses drifted in price before the off, a BoyleSports best odds guarantee kicked in and boosted the total haul to €5,065.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Our County Louth customer picked out some well-priced horses to outrun their odds at Cheltenham and their smart each-way approach has paid off nicely. It only cost them a total of €3, so fair play to them for being so ambitious and we hope the winnings go down well.”
