A planning application has been lodged with Louth County Council this week, seeking to demolish The Crowing Cock pub in Kilsaran and to erect palisade type fencing to "the Old Dublin Road (R132) frontage and the erection of an entrance gate (2.4m in height) to the existing entrance onto road known as Maine Way."

The landmark pub was a popular stop off on the way to Dublin before the arrival of the M1 motorway and for a long number of years, was a hotspot for weekend entertainment.

A decision is due on the application, which was made by Yack Unlimited Company, by July 8, 2019. Submissions are due by June 17, 2019.
