Couple in 80s tied up and robbed at home in Blackrock
An investigation is underway in Blackrock Co. Louth after an elderly couple were tied up during an aggravated burglary which took place at their home on Tuesday evening.
Two men aged in their late teens or early 20s entered the couple’s home at around 8pm last night on the Rock Road in Blackrock.
According to LMFM, The men were armed with a hammer, a knife and a hatchet and had their faces covered. The men brought the couple to the upstairs bedroom where they were then tied up. The men escaped the scene with a small quantity of cash as well as the couple’s car which was later found on the Seafield Road.
The couple, in theor 80s, were left shaken after the incident and the woman was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Gardai in Dundalk are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area, near St Francis National School between the hours of 7.30pm and 8.30pm last night and are urging members of the public who witnessed any suspicious activity to contact them at Dundalk Garda Station: 042 938 8400
