A 28 year old man accused of punching three members of the public on a street in Dundalk on St. Stephen's Day last year, is to have his case dealt with at district court level.
Christopher McCabe of Sutton House, Seatown Place, Dundalk was before the court charged with three counts of assault causing harm at Seatown Place, Dundalk - on an elderly man and on two young people who are profoundly deaf, and gave evidence last week through a sign-language interpreter.
He is also accused of an assault on a Garda at McEntee Avenue.
Last Wednesday, the court was told the DPP had directed summary disposal instead of the case being heard at Circuit Court level.
After he spoke to the complainants in the serious assault prosecution, Judge John Coughlan accepted jurisdiction and adjourned the case to the fourth of September when either a plea of guilty will be entered, or a date will be sought for a contested hearing.
