Gunman allegedly mistakenly targeted family house in Dundalk shooting

A gunman allegedly targeted a family home in Rockfield Manor, Dundalk in a case of mistaken identity as children slept upstairs on the night of Easter Sunday.

Two shots were fired at the home which smashed a downstairs window.

A "senior source" told the website Extra.ie that the young family who were living in the home are "decent, law-abiding people with no involvement in criminality whatsoever."

Detectives allegedly said that it was a case of mistaken identity as some well-known local criminals involved in the drugs trade live nearby.

Nobody was injured in the attack which occurred around 11.40pm on Sunday night.

Investigations are ongoing and no arrests made yet.
