Dundalk school's basketball team reach All-Ireland semi finals

St.Vincent’s school basketball squad had a very successful win recently when the first year team made it through to the All-Ireland semi-finals.

The team travelled to Crossmolina, Co.Mayo along with their coaches and teachers Maurice Woods and Edel McNulty to take part in the All-Ireland play-offs.

The team showed great determination and skill as they defeated both Gortnor Abbey Crossmolina and Dungannon Academy to set up a winner takes all final game against St Mary’s CBS Naas.

The girls played brilliantly in a nail biting game which ended with St. Vincent’s winning with a score line of 40-39. The girls now play in the All Ireland Semi-final in the National Basketball Arena, Tallaght on May 2.

Edel McNulty explained: "This is a fantastic achievement for our first year students. They have worked so hard this year and we wish them all the very best in Tallaght. It will be such a great experience for them, playing in the National Arena and we are very proud of them."
