Concern after Dundalk child finds discarded needle on street

Local election candidate Eugene Garvey has warned parents to ensure their children are aware of the dangers of discarded hypodermic needles on streets in Dundalk.

Mr Garvey took to Twitter this afternoon to say that his daughter had spotted a needle in a drain, which was within easy reach.

He said: "My 8 year old found this just outside our home. (It was) in easy reach of her little hands. Thankfully she was wise enough to tell me. I have arranged for it's safe disposal."

Mr Garvey advised parents to let their children know about these "dangers" and always tell and adult if they see any.
