Ardee St Mary's pay tribute to club 'great' Mickey Nulty
Local GAA club Ardee St Mary's have paid glowing tribute to former club president Mickey Nulty, who passed away yesterday.
Mr Nulty was member of the club's Hall of Fame, as well as being a successful player.
In a statement on the club's Facebook page this morning, the club called him "one of the Mary's greats":
"Ardee St Mary's have woken up to the devastating news of the passing of a great clubman, a club president and a club Hall Of Fame member, Mickey Nulty (RIP).
"A winning championship selector in 1968, Mickey was also successful on the field winning 3 championships as a player. Up until Mickey's illness he would be ever present in Paric Mhuire, Ardee or Fr McEvoy Park in Cooley; it didn't matter to Mickey where the match was he'd drive his wee Yaris anywhere for his love for the boys in blue.
"Mickey is stood in the picture with his pride and joy, his "buy a seat make a stand" plaque. When this was bought for him by his family we said "the smile Mickey has in the picture is the smile he'll have when he sees his name in Paric Mhuire", now his family can smile when they see their dad/grandfather/great grandfathers name in Paric Mhuire as one of the Mary's greats.
"Mickey you'll be sadly missed by the St Mary's family, from our seniors to our juveniles to our ladies
