A Dublin man accused of speeding at 180kph on the M1 motorway had his dangerous driving prosecution adjourned at Dundalk District court last week, after Judge John Coughlan said he would not accept a plea to a reduced charge of careless driving.

David Murphy (26) with an address at Castleknock Avenue, Castleknock, Dublin 15 is charged with committing the alleged offence at Drumleck on December 22nd last.

The defence solicitor handed in a letter to the court from Mr. Murphy's employer, but after hearing the speed the accused was allegedly driving at, Judge Coughlan said he was not prepared to reduce the charge and put the case back for hearing on the 24th of July.
