Dundalk musician Finnian wowing music fans ahead of debut album Under the Influence
Dundalk musician Finnian Kelleher has been basking in the success of his debut single Even Flow, which also features Dundalk singer Stephanie Winters, since its release in late March.
Over the last number of years, Finnian has toured extensively throughout his home country and Europe. He recently supported David Keenan on his Irish Tour and is now releasing 'Even Flow' as the first single from his forthcoming album 'Under The Influence'.
Finnian started out as a folk- based singer- songwriter renowned for a strong and dynamic vocal. He has been praised by peers in the industry and audiences throughout Ireland and Europe for his honest, clever and thought-provoking lyrics.
Although playing as a solo acoustic-based artist is something that he thoroughly enjoys and executes with a passion and energy that has received critical acclaim, he decided to add another dynamic to his music.
Just over a year ago he put together a band of greatly accomplished musicians in their own right and submerged himself in the hunt for a new sound. Something that would merge his lyrics and music more consistently.
His first full album 'Under The Influence' due for release in Summer 2019 is the embodiment of two years of hard work and is a hugely ambitious yet solid projection of that sound he was searching for.
Nine tracks Recorded to tape is a throwback to seventies-style production and yet has a completely contemporary vibe, produced by Peter Baldwin of Blackmountain Studios.
It was mixed by Grammy award winning engineer Ben Kane ( D'Angelo, The Roots, Nora Jones, Emily King) and Sees him collaborate with some of Ireland's finest talent including Jess Kav of Barq and Booka Brass to name a few.
Acclaimed Dundalk singer David Keenan is a big fan of Finnian's music. He recently said: “I have deep admiration and love for those who truly embody the song, those who step within and deliver a story with absolute honesty and truth. Finnian is one of these few.
“I’ve witnessed him opening his lungs and filling a room with his cavernous voice, narrating his stories with passion and sincerity. When he sings I believe him and it’s that believability that holds my attention.”
Paddy McPoland, tour manager for Sinead O'Connor, James Vincent Mc Morrow and Damien Dempsey is also a fan of the Dundalk singers work. He said: “Finnian has matured into one of Ireland's most creative songwriters and performers working today.
Finnian's debut single was also named Track of the Day by Irish music magazine Hotpress last week.
Praising the single Hotpress said: “The track is accompanied by an acoustic music video where Finnian and Stephanie Winters deliver a charming, effortlessly refreshing duet.
“Each soft strum of guitar, gentle piano playing and the effortless, ethereal harmonies, all combine to create a wholesome feeling of earthiness and serenity.”
