Dundalk Gardaí have warned car owners to ensure their cars are locked overnight as “opportunists” will try handles of parked cars across Dundalk.
A garda spokesperson said: "We would urge people to ensure that their cars are locked when they park them at their house overnight and when they are popping into the shops. Parked cars should be locked at all times."
The warning comes following a spate of car thefts which occurred on Friday, December 7.
Eight cars were broken into and had items stolen on a route between the Doylesfort Road and Dundalk between 1:45am and 7:20am.
One person has been charged for two of the thefts.
