Fatal traffic collision in Castleblayney referred to GSOC

Following last night’s fatal traffic collision in Castleblayney, Gardaí referred the matter to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission under Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005.

Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005 provides for independent investigation of any matter that appears to indicate that the conduct of a member of the Garda Síochána may have resulted in the death of, or serious harm to, a person.

GSOC have deployed a team of investigators to the scene and an examination of the incident continues.

The investigation into the incident continues to be carried out by An Garda Síochána.
