Parade route and events schedule for Frostival Winter Festival in Dundalk

Dundalk is set to experience the magic of Christmas at Frostival Winter Festival next Friday 23th and Saturday 24th of November, marking the start of the festive season in the town centre.

According to the organisers, the big attraction at this year’s event is the Carnival of Light parade starting at 6.15pm from the Longwalk Shopping Centre, illuminating the town centre as it weaves its way through the streets on a magical journey.

The procession will be like a winter fairy tale come to life with the Nutcracker prince spinning fire, a flying fairground horse, troupe of Dancing Christmas Stars performed by Funky Feet, the Sugar plum fairy, giant snowflakes, huge golden baubles light up the street, Rudolph prances and dances, a Snowman cycles in a sparkling snowstorm and Santa is high above the crowd on his magic bicycle!

The countdown is on with only a few days left to go until the fun starts and Santa makes the long journey from his arctic home to the magical grotto at Market Square for Frostival.

Santa will be in his grotto from 4-8pm on Friday, and 12-4pm on Saturday, little girls and boys are invited to visit completely FREE of charge to deliver their Christmas letters to him in person.

A visit to Dundalk Christmas Market will get you into the festive spirit and is the perfect place to discover delicious food and bespoke handmade Irish gifts, be sure to check it out this weekend!

Join in the family fun and jump aboard the festive Frostival Express Train, also at Market Square, from 4-8pm on Friday, and 12-4pm on Saturday.

The Little Elves Fun Zone also at Market Square which will run from 4-8pm on Friday and 12-4pm  on Saturday with lots of FREE fun for the little ones including DJ Christmas who will be playing all his festive favourites to get us into the spirit of Christmas.

An Cathaoirleach will officiate at the ceremony to switch on the town centre festive lighting and Christmas tree which will start at 6pm.

Town Centre Commercial Manager, Martin Mc Elligott hopes the festive events will be a big hit with locals.

“On behalf of the whole team here in the BIDs office we are all delighted to have worked on this project and hope the families of the North east and anyone visiting, enjoy all the magic and splendour we think Dundalk brings. We truly believe that Dundalk is the place to be and wish all our retailers and the people who live, work and play here a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful new year.

“I would also like to thank Louth County Council and the Longwalk SC for their continued sponsorship and support, Louth Volunteer centre and the Civil Defence for always getting involved in Christmas in the Town, without these generous contributions none of these events would ever be possible.”
