George Casey, also known as “Wee Georgie”, was a well known figure in Dundalk and continues to be remembered.
There will be an opportunity to remember him on the 50th anniversary of his death, on Wednesday November 28 in the County Musuem on Jocelyn Street in Dundalk.
The event will include words, music and visuals. Stanley Millen and Jim Johnstone will take part along with the audience who are encouraged to share their memories and stories on the night.
There is a headstone in St Patridk's graveyard which was erected due to the generosity of the people of Dundalk.
The organisers of the event encourage younger people to come along on the night to learn more about the history and characters of the town.
