Gangland crime forces cancellation of all Garda leave in Louth

Ongoing incidents involving two criminal gangs in the county has forced the cancellation of all Garda leave in the Louth division.

As has been reported today by LMFM, Chief Superintendent Christy Mangan, head of the division, has cancelled all leave in response to ongoing incidents in Drogheda.

Following a number of incidents, including the kidnapping of a man in Drogheda who was beaten and stabbed at the weekend, but has since been rescued by gardaí, and the petrol bombing of a house on the Rathmullen Road last night, the decision was taken to cancel Garda leave.

Five suspects were arrested in the kidnapping case, two of whom are being detained in Dundalk Garda Station.
