Flooding in parts of Dundalk this evening
Motorists are being advised to drive with caution in Dundalk and the surrounding areas this evening, as torrential rain has caused floods to appear on some roads.
On the Ardee Road exiting Dundalk, the road is beginning to flood past Paddy Clarke's filling station.
The heavy rain is set to continue for a time tonight before clearing later.
Motorists are also reminded by AA Roadwatch that the N53 is closed west of Dundalk, between Hackballscross and Rassan until Mon 7th Dec for works. Traffic should divert via Ardee and Carrickmacross.
Met Éireann advise that conditions will improve later:
Wet & very windy in many areas this eve, with persistent rain, hvy & thundery in places & accompanied by strong to gale force southeasterly winds. Clearer, showery conditions will extend from the west & southwest during the evening & early night and winds will ease in most parts pic.twitter.com/fZgYzUatIi— Met Éireann (@MetEireann) November 9, 2018
